Chinese Solar New Year starts on 4th February every year.
This February we have entered the "Bing Xu"
or the Fire Dog year. The New Year has dual effect on us.
The first is the astrological changes and second is the change
in Qi (life giving energy) of the various directions.
In this article we will concentrate on the later part.
Let us try to understand as to what each direction has to
offer us this year.
Good
Directions to use:
|

|
North: This is the most
benevolent direction this year due to the influence of
the timely star #8. Tap into this direction for making
money and enhancing your career. Place a bowl of water
to further enhance the potential. The only problem is
that the Three Killings (an annual affliction)
is also in this sector. This means that those houses sitting
north would face problems if they renovate this year.
|
 |
East: The star of quick
money (#1) has landed in East. Though it is substantially
weakened due to its presence in a wooden palace, it can
be used successfully. This sector will be ideal for meditation,
studying and research.
|
 |
Northeast: Star #6,
residing in Northeast this year, will bestow upon you
authority and respectability. Especially good for businessman
and politicians. You will find it easy to get back old
debts or inherit some wealth as this star also represents
"Old Money"
|
 |
Southwest: This is the
Sheng or Growing sector as Star #9 indicates future prosperity.
You will experience happy events like promotions, wedding
etc. A water feature here will be helpful.
|
 |
Northwest: Star #4 bestows
romance as well as education when used properly. Those
using this sector will also see substantial amount of
travelling. The Grand Duke of Jupiter (an annual affliction)
is also residing in this sector. Hence you are advised
not to "break ground" in this sector. This means
no breaking of walls, ceiling or flooring. If your house
is facing or sitting in this direction avoid renovation
of the entire house. But you can paint the house or move
the furniture.
|
Bad
Directions to be avoided:
|

|
West: The lord of ill
health (Star #5) has come to the West direction making
it the sector you should avoid, especially for Gua 1 people.
In addition it can cause accidents, mishaps and impediments
to progress. To reduce this ill effect you can hang a
wind chime or place a lot of metal objects in this sector.
Avoid any renovation in this sector.
|
 |
South: Star #7 represents
waning energy in the current period and hence shows its
bad side of robbery, arguments and loss of money. If you
can't avoid this sector at least use a positive direction
to face in office or sleep at home.
|
 |
Southeast: Star #2 like
#5 indicates bad health
especially stomach related
problems. Women should especially avoid this sector. |
You can "tap" into a particular direction by sleeping
with your head in that direction. If your bedroom is located
in a particular sector of the house, you will get their effect
of that direction. Also check out the direction of your main
door and stove. Using the 5-element theory, these directional
Qis can be further enhanced or suppressed to help the
residents of the house. During professional Feng Shui
audits, an energy blue print of your house is made and the
influence of Annual, Monthly & Daily stars on it is analysed.
This article is a very basic description of the effects of
change in environmental Qi and how you can benefit
from it. For checking out monthly changes in environmental
Qi refer to "Monthly Analysis" on my website.
